As many of you may be aware, we are having our drive re-laid. So work could be completed we really needed the notice board and bin to be removed. We asked Welbury Parish Council if it was possible to relocate the village notice board to another location. Permission was granted and it was decided that a new notice board would be appropriate to replace the existing one. As a temporary measure the existing notice board has been moved by the damaged oak tree.
With regard to the litter bin, permission for removal has been granted by North Yorkshire Council as there is already a litter/ dog waste bin by the damaged oak tree. Awaiting removal, the bin has temporarily been moved to the side of the village water pump.
We have apologised for the noise and disruption to our immediate neighbours and extend this to you all

On Thursday Welbury WI meet at 7.30pm in Welbury village hall. Our speaker is Stuart Barlow – talking about Philip Webb (Father of the Arts and Crafts movement) and The Bell family so lots of local history and interest. Visitors, male and female, are always welcome and please feel free to join us for supper after the speaker has finished.
Also in the village hall on the 1st August are vintage afternoon teas to celebrate Yorkshire Day and raise funds for our lovely little church, St Leonard’s (poster attached with details). If you’re able to come please could you let me know ( joannehughes311@btinternet.com )how many and approximately what time as this helps with catering but please feel free to just turn up if you’re not sure until the day.
Then on the 15th August is our village show (show schedule attached and a printed copy will be delivered with the August Gazette). If anyone has trophies from last year please could they be returned soon, either to the village hall when it’s open or leave in church when the ‘church open’ sign is out (every Wednesday and other times when I can).
Jar appeal – if anyone has empty mint sauce size glass jars I would greatly appreciate them as it’s jam making season. In church you’ll find gooseberry jam, gooseberry & elderflower jam, blackcurrant jam with more to follow as fruit ripens. Happy to collect if you let me know ( 07796436020).
