Refresh and Reconnect: Welbury Coffee Morning This Thursday

A reminder that the monthly Welbury Coffee Morning will be held this Thursday (22nd August) in the Village hall, 11.00-12.00. As always, everyone is welcome to come along.

Joanne Hughes writes:
The 40th Welbury Village Show returned with a flourish after an absence of 5 years.

It was well supported with 284 entries from 2 years to 80+ with an amazing array of floral displays, preserves, handicrafts, photos, delicious baking and many fabulous entries in the children’s section. The judges really had their work cut out.

It was lovely to see so many come to view the show when it reopened at 2pm. Betty Unwin, one of the founders of the village show in the late 70s, presented the main trophies (results will be on the village hall notice board in due course for those who missed it).
This was followed by a super raffle which was drawn by two young helpers, Amelia & Tom. If anyone has raffle ticket Blue 199 please let me know & I’ll get it to you.

Thanks very much to all who helped getting the show going again, helped get the hall ready, baked scones, served refreshments, sold raffle tickets & took the entrance money – a great team effort, with a special thanks to Jess for all the inputting & printing.

The village show committee will be meeting in the near future but if anyone has any suggestions re changes to classes etc for future shows, please contact us today

The next big event in the village hall will be The Macmillan Coffee Morning Saturday 5th October ( see September’s Welbury & Rounton Gazette for full details ). Hope to see you there.
