Road Works in Welbury and Mobile Libary in Appleton

Paul Lightfoot, Chair of the Parish Council, writes:

You may have noticed the ongoing roadworks in the village. We have been informed by North Yorkshire Council that this is to install a new fibre network for the village to enable the provision of ‘super fast broadband’ It is likely that this work will continue until early March. As soon as we receive any further information we will let you know.

PLANNED ROAD RESTRICTION NOTIFICATION – TZ010869-SHP-20-01
Location: Welbury Crossing To Low Moor, East Harlsey CP, Welbury, Unknown
Description of works: Core drill into existing BT network, and excavate to install approximately 10m of new duct (including road crossing) and associated chamber to install a new fibre network.

The Restriction will be in place for a period of 5 days between 2nd March 2026 and 6th March 2026

News from Appleton Wiske:

New village mobile library service!

The first visit of the mobile library service to Appleton Wiske will be Thursday 8th January at 1.00 p.m. The mobile library will then visit every four weeks, with each visit lasting approximately 1 hour. The vehicle will be parked at the Village Hall. The regular visits will depend on how well the mobile library is used. Please go along and have a look and make use of this opportunity.
